January and February, 2002
Happy New Year to All!
I would like to express my deepest gratitude for all the support you have given me during my absence from the classroom. I have learned a lot from this experience and I am grateful that I am able to return to the children.
Parent/Child Writing Day
is coming soon! You will have the opportunity to learn more about the expectations for the upcoming writing test and to experience the writing process with your child. Please read and return the attached invitation. We hope you will be able to attend on Friday, February 1 from 10:15 to 11:30.

More cultural arts programs are on the way! Fourth graders will get a taste of living in the past with Kathryn Bundy. She will visit our class twice in January to share what life was like over one hundred years ago. Additional programs in other areas are scheduled for February and April.
Science: We will be exploring magnets and electricity in the upcoming weeks. Ask your child about the in-class activities to see what the fun is all about. As an added bonus, high school students will join us on February 19 to share ways to conserve energy.
Newbery Book Reports: Information sheets were given out and discussed in class. These reports will be due February 6.
Classroom Wish List:
We would appreciate donations of baby wipes and plug-in air fresheners.
No school Friday, January 18 and Monday, January 21 in honor of Martin Luther King.
Have a Great Weekend!
