GO SPEECH! Dear Speech students: September already?? I hope you are all settling down with your new school schedule and getting to know your new teachers. After this Labor Day weekend, we are seeing a change in the weather. The cooler weather will bring on the changes in trees and the final harvest of summer gardens and fruit orchards but the first day of Autumn is not until the 23rd. What words have you learned that can help you express what you are seeing? When talking to friends and family about any of these events, remember to use describing words. It makes your story much more interesting. Also try to use words with your sounds in them. Practice saying your speech sounds as best you can. Remember that talking and listening are what communication is all about so practice listening carefully everyday so that you can understand your friends, teachers, coaches and parents. Remember also, when using this site at home, to say everything OUT LOUD while you are playing so that your helper can hear you. Look below for some links to pages created by Tracy Gefroh Boyd and Lonn Swanson, also Speech/Language Pathologists. Ms. Boyd's pages include links to some other websites which you might find enjoyable and informative. Please check them out for some more practice fun during the school year. Remember that taking time to practice the skills you have learned in Speech will give you the edge you need to be successful in school. Happy talking, Ms. Turner
