Glencoe HS Chemistry Physics Instructor
Chemistry is a study of the substances that make up the physical world. Matter is held together by energy, and energy is either released or required to rearrange matter. To learn chemistry you will be rearranging matter in your brain to store information. So even as you learn chemistry you will be applying chemistry!   Chemistry is taught in a sequence that is much like climbing a mountain. First we will get in shape by mastering basic skills like learning the   element names, symbols and atomic structure. Next we will apply math skills to measure quantities of matter. Finally we will learn how concepts and theories in chemistry can be applied to understanding basic natural phenomena and to make predictions. From the top of the mountain you will be able to see a variety of ways to apply chemistry.
