Winston Churchill


Born on November 30th, 1874, Winston Churchill attented Military College in Sandhurst, which he graduated from in 1895. During the Boer War, Winston was captured and he escaped, becoming a national hero. In 1904, Winston became the president of the board of trade in the Liberal Party while in 1910, he became home security. One year later in 1911, Winston left home security to take charge of being the First Lord of Admiralty. However, he resigned from his prestigious position after the Great War. The Great War was the original name for World War I. Winston became the Minister of Munition in 1917 and was part of the Coalition Party from 1917 until 1922. He received another high ranked position as the Chancellor of the Excheuar in 1924. He was denied the cabinet office during the Great Depression for 10 years. He was a hero to the public in his time, but at that point the government didn't quite share the public's love for him. in 1939 he retook his position as the First Lord of Admiralty. He succeeded Chaimberlin as the Prime Minister in 1940 and had received much support and help from the United States and helped plan a military strategy to beat and conquer Hitler's army. He lost the election in 1945 but won it back in 1951. Due to health problems, he resigned in 1955. After the war, he wrote books about his experiences in the war and won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1953. In 1963 congress gave Winston honorary American citizenship for his services to the world. He died when he was 90 years old in 1965 and was buried at Blenhiem Palace.
