Minerva Deland & Fairport High School
Happy 2008 from Connections 9!

Connections is the next step after Explore in the Gifted & Talented program at Fairport. Connections classes meet once a week during lunch periods or studyhalls. You will not miss classes to come to Connections. Attendance is required as Connections is a credit bearing course. I teach at Minerva DeLand on Tuesdays and Thursdays in room #211. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays you can find me at Fairport High School, where I teach Connections 10-12.

This semester is when course selection for the 2008/2009 school year begins. Students will be meeting with their Guidance Counselors. Make sure they add Connections as an elective for next year!

English classes have begun the Person Who Changed the World assisgnment. Connections will be working on this as well. See the assignment link below. Students are engaged in reading, writing, speaking, blogging, and podcasting during this multimedia project. We will be making our speeches during class. The speeches will be taped to help us assess our skills.

In Connections classes we have begun working together on designing original games. Our task is to design a game that will be evaluated by connections students at FHS using a scoring rubric. Our brainstorming session gave us lots of unique possibilities. We had 3 class periods to get the job done.
