The folowing unit is made up of the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution of the United States. Responsibilities of the students will be to understand the difference between the two as well as the intricate parts of the constitution that visibly effect the students themselves. Students must be able to recognize the elements of the federal government system and the system of checks and balances used to control our government. Finally students will use their recent knowledge of the election of the President of the United States to explain how our constitution sets up the winner of the election.

Analyze a copy of the Articles of Confederation as well as a copy of the United States Constitution. Make a chart listing the rights given to people by the Articles of Confederation and by the Constitution. List the negatives of the Articles of Confederation and how the Constitution corrected it.
Students will Create a visual explaining the system of Checks and Balances.
Students will examine a chart of the electoral votes and write a paragraph explaining the strategy of the election to win.
