One of baseball's premier pitchers. He won the 1997 NL Cy Young award with the Montreal Expos. Pedro was traded to the Boston Red Sox on November 18, 1997 for pitchers Carl Pavano and Tony Armas. Pedro won the AL Cy Young Award and pitching triple crown with Boston in 1999.
Pedro was signed by Los Angeles as an amateur free agent June 18, 1988. He attended Ohio Dominican College (D.R.). Pedro has a younger brother named Ramon Martinez and another brother, Jesus, who pitches in the Milwaukee Brewers minorleague system.
With a career record of 132-59, Pedro has posted an E.R.A. of 2.66 proving to be unhittable at times. Striking out nearly 2000 hitters in his career, Pedro continues to shine as the Red Sox pursue a World Series Championsip.
