Thank you for the wonderful blessings of candy, flowers, special gifts, and cards on Valentine's Day! You really made my day extra special. Thanks to all the parents who helped during the party, and also to those parents who watched the students during lunch allowing the teachers to have some free time. I THANK GOD FOR YOU PARENTS & STUDENTS!
This class page will be updated with information about upcoming tests, quizzes, assignments, and anything else pertaining to fifth grade language class. If you have any questions, please feel free to call or e-mail me.
WEEK OF FEBRUARY 18 - 22
RESEARCH REPORTS: The research packet was sent home last week with an assignment schedule included. This week students will work on and complete bibliography cards, preliminary outline and note cards. An UPDATED ASSIGNMENT schedule was sent home FRI., FEB. 15. Please note the changes made in the schedule.

Encourage your child to keep ALL research information, notes, etc. in his/her research folder and pocket file.
The goal is to have the research paper completed and turned in by WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6 BEFORE SPRING BREAK!
PARENTS: Please sign the yellow page of the research packet and return it to language class this week if you have not done so.
Students will be reading information for their research reports. We will resume working in the green readers after the research paper is completed in March.
FEBRUARY Book It Goal: (due THURS.,FEB. 28)

*Challenge: 350 pages from A. R. books and
at least TWO (2) A. R. tests in February
TEST THIS WEEK: THURS., FEB. 21 - LESSON 25 (Short Week due to Presidents' Day on Monday and Rodeo Houston on Friday.)

JOURNALS: Daily journals have been a great success in fifth grade. Students will continue to write about anything they choose, or a specific topic will be given. They usually have 5 - 10 minutes to write in their journals.
PARENTS: Please review your child's workbooks with him/her either daily or weekly. This will keep you informed about their daily progress in class.
