garciaearthscience Mrs. Garcia
Garner Senior High School Earth Science teacher
Welcome to our class web page!  Let me take this opportunity to tell you how excited I am about teaching at Garner Senior High School this year.  I'd like to give you a brief overview of what we will cover this year in Earth Science. We will begin by talking about astronomy, then focus on the Earth itself.  We will cover the Earth's atmosphere, the bodies of water and landmasses of Earth.  By Winter Break, we will have explored the causes of earthquakes and volcanoes and the destruction they cause.  We will also spend some time studying fossils and geologic time.  Another favorite part of Earth Science is meterology or the study of weather.  During this unit we will study how to forecast weather as well as violent weather storms.

My approach to class is a mixture of notes, worksheets and handouts and hands on lab activities.  Homework and projects will be assigned on a regular basis.  Tests are a mixture of multiple choice, matching, true/false, fill in the blank and short answer.  We will spend some time reviewing the day before the test but you should not consider that your only study time.  You should review your material on a daily basis.  It is easier to learn a small amount on material over time than a large amount in a small time period (cramming :(

If you have any questions about class, a specific topic we are covering or your grade, do not hesistate to ask at an appropriate time.  (Before or after class or afterschool, NOT in the middle of lecture.)

Let's have a great year!!!!!
