In art class, fifth graders are learning about advertising as one of the many careers in art. After looking at ads and discussing their influence on us, each student will design a print ad for a local Katy business. The ads will be submitted to The Katy Sun for possible publication during the holiday season. Fourth graders are looking at examples of African masks before making their own mask designs with paper mache. Third graders will be making two dimensional mask designs. First and second graders are exploring the art element of texture while doing rubbings. Stay tuned for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Contest in January!
For family fun during the holidays, the Museum of Fine Arts offers a variety of art-related activities. Watch a performance, hear a storyteller, or partcipate in a hands-on activity. Each Sunday a different activity is planned for young artists and their families. For more information call (713) 639-7590.

The Computer Labs at Golbow Elementary are a hot spot this year! The students are working hard at learning Keyboarding skills as well as journeying through Interactive Books! One of the most exciting activities the students have been experiencing this year are the Online Quizzes! The students go to a website that is created by a teacher or technologist in the district directly related to the curriculum. There are questions for them to find the answers to by browsing weblinks. The students love it!
