Simmons College, Department of Education and Human Services Growth and Change in Indivduals and Families Instructor
Welcome to Growth and Change in Individuals and Families.  In this course we will explore the life cycle and the changes that individuals experience, as well as an overview of family development.

Threaded throughout the course will be a perspective of including culture, race, gender, social class, and access in our explorations.  We will consider these factors as they affect our own development as a way of becoming more aware of the role these factors play in general.

We will also focus upon how an understanding of development is necessary for interventions and services.  We will be looking at the effects of some institutions upon individuals and families.

We will use readings including fiction and poetry, audio-visual material, class discussions, and your own project development to achieve these goals.
