Welcome to Mrs. Hardcastle's class web page.
Read all about the news in Room 34 for the week of February 27, 2001
Some students are reading novels and others are continuing to read in the fourth grade reader. Ask your child which book he/she is reading. The students reading novels will be doing this for the next couple of weeks. The next book project will be due March 1. It will be a book of choice. I am asking to check the book and am trying to get the students to stretch their reading by choosing a book that they may not usually read. I have also mentioned that if they usually read books from a certain series to choose a book that is not from that series. As usual the book is to be okayed by me. I am looking for length, appropriate reading level, and an encouragement to read a variety of books.
We are writing comparative paragraphs about music and P.E. I hope to have them finished by the end of this week. We have also been working out of the language book and have been looking at possessive and plural nouns. We will now look at and discuss pronouns.
This week we are working on multiplying three digits by two digits. We continue to work on timed math facts-so continue to practice those facts!
We have finished the Revolutionary War unit and will spend the next couple of weeks concentrating on electricity.
*Practice math facts
*Students are to be reading each night for at least 15 minutes.
*Check your child's daily homework calendar for other assignments
*As you know Friday, March 2, 2001 will be my last day.
*March 2 we will also celebrate Dr. Seus's birthday by having a reader come in and read a book to the class. Also, Mr. LaFevre will be reading to all the fourth graders in the library.
