It's been a long stretch since Christmas break (longer than normal this year), but here we are...just one more week before we can all slow down and take a breather. I think the students are ready! They've been busy and learning a lot since Christmas break! Just a reminder that there is no school on Good Friday.
As you know, we have been preparing for the Living Stations of the Cross. We are having a dress rehearsal on Tuesday afternoon. Please send in with your child his/her costume for this rehearsal. Living Stations of the Cross will take place on Wednesday afternoon at 12:15. All are invited to this powerful reenactment of Jesus' death and resurrection. We hope you can make it!
During this busy week, the students will be learning following:
Religion: The children will learn about this special week called Holy Week and about how our Church celebrates Easter. They will be writing letters to Jesus reflecting on His suffering and resurrection. We will show the students a video called "The Proud Tree". It is an animated story about a tree named Rex who is very excited because he has been chosen to be the king's tree. Little did he know that he's been chosen to be the tree on which Jesus, our King, will be nailed.
Reading/Language: We will be reading with the children the story THE TORTOISE AND THE HARE. The students will be working on the skills drawing conclusions and story recall and comprehension.
Math: We will continue working with the children on telling time to the hour and half hour. We will also do a graphing activity with jelly beans.
Science: We will be wrapping up our study of the weather this week. Once we get back from Spring Break, we are looking forward to our unit on metamorphosis where we'll observe REAL caterpillars grow into butterflies!
Have a wonderful week and a safe and blessed Easter!
Monday: Do "Long Vowel Eggs" (determining long vowel sounds)
Tuesday: Read and complete your "Weekly Reader".
Wednesday: Do "Whose Nest?" (reading and writing contractions)
