Dear Students and Parents,
I hope everyone enjoyed the field trip to the Louisiana Arts and Science Center. This field trip was the conclusion to our "Space" Unit. We will now study about the United States, and this week we will begin learning the names of the States and their Captials. We will have a Unit Test on the States and their Capitals on April 19th. Please work with the GAMES and QUIZ LINKS shown below so that you will be better prepared for the Unit Test. Also, the Library has copies of "Yo, Sacramento!" by Will Cleveland and Mark Alvarez. This book published by Scholastic has fun learning stories and word plays that will help when attempting to memorize the Capitals.
As part of our unit we will make a salt dough relief map of your favorite State. Please bring a 1 foot square piece of 1/4" plywood to use as a base for your relief map. All dough and paint supplies will be provided in the classroom. This relief map will be worked on during classroom time, beginning on Tuesday, April 11th as part of our States Unit. Be prepared to choose a State that has a special meaning or connection to you and your family.
I saw many of your parents at Open House this past Thursday evening, and they were very impressed with your work and space projects that were displayed. I enjoyed talking with everyone and boasting about my wonderful students!
