FYI Reminders:

Practice TAAS Testing is this Tuesday and Wednesday.  Please make sure your child gets a good nights sleep and a healthy breakfast!

Super Kid's Day is this Friday from 9-11 a.m. 
We also have art at 1:45 on Friday!

Awards ceremony is May 22nd at 10:00 a.m. Followed by a picnic!  Please join us!

There is still time to turn in monthly minutes for reading!

The last day of school is May 24th.  The children get out at 11:00 a.m.  No lunch that day!

{Please practice saying, spelling, and writing the word}

*We are working on dictation with simple sentences using the spelling words.  I would like to suggest that you practice writing simple sentences with your child.  This will help reinforce language and spelling skills.

SKILLS

Spelling:

Skills: Main idea, reviewing vowels, synonyms, compound words,r & l blends, digraphs(sh,ch,wh,th) sequential order, rhyming words, contractions, antonyms & abc order

Language:  We will also continue working on verbs, describing words (adjectives), proper nouns, sentence structure, word order, capitalization, punctuation, asking & telling sentences.

Reading: Practice vocabulary, read take home readers daily,
Take time to ask the children simple questions about what they're reading. Such as:  Who is/are the main character(s) in the story?  Where does it take place? (setting) Ask what type of punctuation is at the end of a particular sentence.
These type of questions will help with comprehension.Begin asking simple questions about the sequential order of the story. (beginning, middle, ending).  Have your child give you some details about the story.  

*Please take the time to praise your child for their progress!  It makes a world of difference!

*I can really see some progress in the children's reading!

Math: Two digit addition and subtraction problems.  No borrowing or carrying involved.

Science:  Trees
