~~~~Spelling Assignment= Mondays, except for short weeks or during special projects or writing activities.  Spelling Tests= Thursday or Friday

Check this page often for info pertaining to our Eagles' 6th grade English class.  Also, there are online games and activities at the bottom of this page that correspond with work we are doing in class.  Students can ACCESS their ENGLISH BOOKS ONLINE.  This is a wonderful resource!  The web address is www.pearsonsuccessnet.com.  Also, at www.phschool.com, students can access review activities.  The web codes on that homepage are:  1st Box= eak 2nd Box = 6001 for writing activities or 6002 for grammar activities.

Mon.: Narrative Write- "A Girl Named Dot",  1) Create a realistic story about a
                                girl named Dot.  2) Don't use any letters/words that
                                have a dot in them, ex: i or j. 3) Use time order
                                words.  4) Include 3 compound sentences.  5)  Include 
                                2 subordinate clauses.  Refer to p. 428 in English text
                                book for help w/subordinate clauses.

Tues.: Sentence & Sausage Poetry-  Write a structured sentence poem.
          Write a structured Sausage poem.

Wednes.: Where Adverbs-  (somewhere, anywhere, nowhere, everywhere,
                                         elsewhere)
               Write "Lake Minirumpus" story.  Using 5 "where" adverbs in your
               sentences, describe how 6 kids got lost on a science field trip and 
               spent the night in the woods along Lake Minirumpus.
 
          
Thurs.: Story Write- "Yankee Doodle Dandee"- Why on earth would
            Yankee Doodle stick a feather in his cap and call it "macaroni"? 
            Come up with a plausible answer.
