Second Grade Teacher Information for Parents / Games for Students
WEEK of NOVEMBER 27, 2000

This week's selection is Steven Kellogg's imaginative tale of The Mysterious Tadpole.  The story tells of Louis, a boy who is determined to keep a rare Loch Ness monster tadpole that was given to him as a birthday gift by his favorite uncle. The tadpole becomes enormous, and Louis has to find a solution in order to keep his pet. At the end of the story Louis receives another unusual birthday gift from his uncle; you and your child can read what other 2nd graders think about the new gift by clicking on the Kid-Created Endings link in the Useful links section at the bottom of the Class Page.

I have made some games your child can use to review and practice the vocabulary list words for this story.  Just click on the Java Games link in the Quia activities section below, and it will take you directly to the games choices page.  It may be helpful to print out the list of terms (vocabulary list words and definitions used for the games) from the games choices page so your child can use them as needed during practice.

Additional links about tadpoles, Loch Ness and the fabled monster, and Steven Kellogg can be found in the Useful links section.  I have provided these links for enjoyment and enrichment purposes.
