Hola - Hello Irmo High School Students!
Welcome - bienvenidos - to yet another exciting year at Irmo High School. I hope you will find your Spanish classes rewarding. Although I am no longer with you, I do care very much about you; and I always will. That being said - be sure to bring your materials and be prepared each day because getting behind in Spanish is just as dangerous as getting behind in math. Each new lesson depends on the mastery of the previous one.
Nos vemos.

Pregunta Del Día Spanish I (See review link which is a rough draft.) Spanish I PDD - 1st nine weeks

Pre-test on dates, days, & months Pre-test for dates, days, & months

Making nouns and adjectives plural -
Remember - ends in a vowel - add s; ends in a consonant - add es; and if it ends in a Z - change the Z to a C and add es.

Using definite articles (the) – The basic rule is if the noun is masculine singular, you use “el” to say “the”; if it is masculine plural you use “los” to say “the”; if it is feminine singular, you use “la” to say “the”; and if it is feminine plural, you use “las” to say “the”. Most masculine nouns end in o, l, r, or ma, and most feminine nouns end in a, d, or ión. Examples – el zorro – the fox, los zorros – the foxes, la chica – the girl, las chicas – the girls. There are many exceptions that we are studying, but these are the basics for the quiz.

Spanish I Final Pregunta Del Día Questions

Adiós - I am leaving this year - for sure - and not returning. I have done this for over 40 years - it is time to clean house and garden - neither of which interests me.
For my fellow teachers remaining - I wish for you:well-disciplined students, helpful parents, and less paperwork. May none of you be plagued with overly demanding and self serving "outsiders" - you deserve better than that.
For my students - althought you may have thought I did not care, I wish for you: teachers that care as much as I did and do, the brightest of futures, and a whole lot less "drama" during the day.
I love you all - except maybe that "one outsider" who made my year so much more difficult as I had to do my job and that person's job. :-)

Until I have more for you to do, you can look at pictures of where we have been. We went back to Mexico this past summer and returned to Spain in December. Panama is on our agenda for this coming summer with Spain scheduled again for the fall.
