I am a Reading Teacher here at Clear Fork Elementary.
Our primary reading program is to teach Project Read Lessons.
We teach the vowels using hand signals and
clip the consonant sounds. We also teach our students
about the H Brothers-ch, wh, th, sh, and the bossy r's-
ar, er, ir, ur, or. Bossy "r" is in control of the vowels.
Our students' have learned a VCCV Song that teaches them
how to syllabicate words. It is as follows:
Underline the talking vowel
Mark it with a V
Swoop between the talking vowel
Pull down the C
Divide the Pattern
Mark the vowels
Stop by the Reading Lab sometime to see the progress our students are making!
