November is a busy month for all of us. Friday, November 3rd, we will take a trip to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. Each student needs $3.50 for admission. That evening we will attend Godspell at 7:30 in the cafeteria. It is free, and if your child needs a ride, let us know so we can arrange transportation. Dress is casual and it is a student production. Meet in front of the cafeteria if you have a ride.
The next week is the Presidential Election. We hope you discuss current events as a family because our students learn more by conversations than any other way. When a student has an interview with Vocational Rehab., one of the questions asked is, "Do you want to register to vote?" The male students must register for Selective Service when they turn 18, and Voc. Rehab. also asks if that has been done.
November 10th is our day to serve at Macon Outreach. We will take the city bus downtown so everyone needs 4 quarters for bus fare. It is an excellent opportunity to use listening skills, learn how to serve plates, and work on an assembly line. Through volunteering, our students gain valuable life skills, learn how to get along in different environments, and develop a healthy sense of helping others. It is possible that such opportunities might lead to employment after graduation.
November 20-25th is Thanksgiving vacation. There is no school all week. One of our joys is having each and every student in our rooms. We have a hard working group students who know how to have fun as well.
Current news includes the marriage of Ms. Patterson. We all wish her much happiness. All of us enjoyed the trip to the nursing home when we took our Halloween table decorations and our noise and light makers. The residents asked us to come and visit another day. It brigthened their day and ours as well. The floor hockey team will practice with the Moultrie team this month. Contact Mrs. Pickett for information.
Remember work days are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Keep up wearing the correct uniform. If anyone has not returned emergency forms for the bus, pleasse do so.
We hope you make use of this web page to keep up with our activities. We welcome comments and news.
