Activities this Week

The boys completed several graphics activities using PCLOGO 2.0. This has given them a basic exposure to programming. They built a robot and saved it as a procedure.

In addition, we have covered "Microsoft Basics. These are tips which can make using Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, and Power Point easier. This will aid them in all future research projects.

Along those lines, they have started a reseach project, "Endangered Species." Each boy chose an animal from a list of endangered species. They researched their animal from an assigned internet web address. They are now writing a summary using Microsoft Word. Each boy will then combine his summary in a PowerPoint presentation.

CONCERNING TYPING LOGS
I continue to grade typing logs. Those boys who have not turned them in consistently noticed a drop in their grades this semester. I know this is a tough lesson, however in middle school the boys will face detention when they do not turn in their logs. If your boys can't think of anything to type have them write a summay of a book they are reading for Accelerated Reader. This will give them some writing practice as well as help them with their typing skills.

On March 28 Mr. Molina introduced the boys to Robotix using TCLOGO. He taught them how to create a stoplight which would flash. In Middle School the boys will create several projects using this fun software.
