Bonjour mes amis,

Do you know what these words mean?

fend
fends
fendons
fendez
fendent

Can you belive they all mean to split or crack?

The reason for this is easy. French verbs change forms once they are conjugated.

This lesson is on regular RE verbs. We will concentrate on regular (as opposed to irregular) verbs ending in RE.

In order to conjugate verbs ending in RE, we must do the following two steps:

1) Drop the RE ending to create a stem
2) Add the endings to the stem as per the following table.

RE

Je               s              Je fends
Tu               s              Tu fends
Il/Elle          -              Il fend
Nous             ons            Nous fendons
Vous             ez             Vous fendez
Ils/Elles        ent            Ils/Elles fendent

Once you feel comfortable with your memorization of the stems and endings, try the activities below, by clicking on the highlighted link, to check your knowledge.
