Hey my great spellers!  We have been working all year on learning our word wall words and have over 100!!!  You have learned that spelling is important and that knowing your word wall words helps with your writing and when you are reading. When you are writing and you spell your words correctly, the reader will be able to understand what you are trying to say.  If you are reading a book and you come to a word you do not know, you can look for spelling chunks you know to help you read the word!

This year we have also learned how to write interesting stories. You know that each story must have a beginning, middle, and end. Don't forget that you need a topic sentence to start! Try this:

Summer is almost here! Think about your plans for the summer and all of the different activities you can do (swimming, riding your bike, having a sleepover). Write a story about your plans for the summer. You must use at least 10 word wall words. Also, make the reader understand how you feel by using descriptive words (what it sounds like, looks like, feels like). Write your story and turn it in to me. The story must be at least 2 pages. Remember, use TEN words from our word wall
