Welcome to the Reading Recovery Department at Veeder Elementary School. Many first graders benefit from the opportunity to work one on one with the reading recovery teachers. Our goal is to help young learners develop the skills necessary to become independent readers. Our program is designed to move at a fast pace in order for children to read more eloquently each day. Each child who participates in reading recovery meets with a teacher for about 30 minutes each day. The program involves reading and writing as well as home practice.

Helping your child at home.
1. Make time for reading each day.
2. Check for notes from the teacher.
3. Realize that your child will know most of the words that are in the text sent home. He/she should be reading for practice. The goal is to improve their meaning making, the sound of good reading and build quick recognition of words.
