Welcome to Mrs. Lee's First Grade web page. This page will be updated weekly. This is a quick and easy way to let parents know what we are doing in class. I will include spelling words for the week, units we are studying, special activities we are doing, and anything else that I think will help you understand what we do in First Grade.
FOR THE WEEK OF April 10, 2000:
We are still working on our writing unit. The students have already written several good stories. We have focused on having a good introduction, important details, elaboration, and a good conclusion. Along with our writing unit, we have been reviewing ABC order. We put lists of words in alphabetical using the first letter of each word and we also practice using the second letter of the word for alphabetical order.
In math, it is very important to practice the math facts. This will help the students throughout the remainder of their years in school and in their adult lives. KEEP PRACTICING!
In social studies, we are studying "Our World". We will talk about the countries that border the U.S. We will discuss natural resources - what they are and how to take care of them.
We have finished our Saxon Phonics lessons. We will spend the remainder of the school year reviewing words that the students should know how to spell, but don't always do so in their writing.
The spelling words for this week are:
