FRENCH HOLIDAY FOOD TASTING EXTRAVAGANZA!!!
FRENCH RECIPES for class need the following:
***MUST BE OF FRENCH-SPEAKING COUNTRY/REGION OF ORIGIN!!!***
(examples: France, Belgium, Senegal, Morocco, Québec, Louisiana, Switzerland, French Guyana, Martinique, etc.)
NO alcohol in the recipe (even though it burns off in cooking) - then NO questions raised!
NO cooking or reheating in class exception microwave so have "safe and small" dishes!
NO dish can be refrigerated, so please NO ICE CREAM!!!
(if small enough, there will be a small fridge and cooler provided)
NO dish that cannot be divided...please cut ahead of time or provide silverware to serve
YOU MUST DO THE FOLLOWING:
ASK FIRST IF YOU ARE ALLOWED...THIS IS NOT FOR A GRADE!!!
COOK item yourself...NO PARENT INVOLVEMENT other than Supervising
USE ingredients that are NOT expensive
USE ingredients that you already have at home if possible!
***PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE as some students may have food allergies,
LABEL ANY OF THE FOLLOWING ON A NOTECARD/PIECE OF PAPER TO BE DISPLAYED WITH YOUR DISH: (NAME of DISH included please)
ANY meat products that may be used
ANY nut or peanut products
ANY milk products
ANY chocolate products
ANY strawberry/berry products
IF YOU CANNOT prepare something ahead of time, please plan to bring in ONE of the following:
paper plates, sodas, cups, knives/forks/spoons, (2x) 2 liter bottles of soda/juice

We are looking for: Simple cakes, tarts, cookies, breads, etc. If you want to know more traditional dishes, email me and I will give you "names" to find recipes for.

Remember that French dishes are both sweet and savory. Simple items to make: (just some ideas)
Quiche, French onion soup, salad, crudités, French bread / cheese, flan, truffles (candy), crèpes, crème brulée, potato gratin, soufflé, torte, Chocolate mousse, éclairs, cream puffs, Chocolate and orange candy, Palmier cookies, Tarte tatin, Tarte aux pommes, Bûche de Noël, baked French toast (pain perdu), profiteroles, brioche, French macaroon cookies, fruit tart, Ratatouille.
There are also cookies made by:LU available at Giant, Target, Walmart.
Typical French beverage: Orangina, or drinks with sirop/syrup like Torani (Giant carries this brand) to add with water (fruit flavors are welcome)
French cheeses (that students will usually try): Brie, Camembert, and Boursin, mini Laughing Cow cheeses (Vache qui rit)
