TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR OWN LEARNING!!!

Congratulations for being a self-motivated learner who is smart enough to use all available resources to study more efficiently.  How long you spend on each game and which games you choose to play are completely up to you.

This webpage has links to games and activities to help you learn the French language faster and more efficiently.  The games and quizzes are listed by the chapter sections in your first year C'est A Toi book.  Don't forget to look in both the Quia Activities and Useful Links sections for games that match the vocabulary in our book.  Games that do not have a chapter designation in the description have been included to offer you the challenge of learning extra vocabulary.

STUDY HINT: Don't wait until right before the quiz or the test.  Practice using these games as soon as the new vocabulary words or concepts are presented in class.  You will be amazed at how much more you will get out of class time and how much easier French will seem.

BEST WAY TO LEARN NEW VOCABULARY:  Start with flashcards in the Java games selections and select the option to show the word first in French.  Depending on your learning style, draw a picture, imagine a picture in your mind's eye, or act out the meaning while looking at and pronouncing the French word.  Next switch to the English-first option.  First, say the French translation out loud, then write the word in French on a piece of paper.  Finally, flip the card to check what you wrote.  Once you know more than half the words, go ahead and try some of the other Java games like matching or concentration.  Come back to the flashcards every once in a while until you know ALL the words inside and out.  Don't forget to go back and play games from old chapters to keep all the words fresh!
