In Reading we have been reading about children from different countries and cultures. We read "Meet Rosina" about a deaf girl from Mexico and learned that although she is deaf she is a lot like us. Sean from ASP showed us some words in sign language. Stay tuned for our video.
Then we read "My Name is Yoon", a realistic fiction, story about a girl from Korea that moves to the United States. This story helped us understand what it must be like to come to a new country and not speak their language. Jade showed us how she writes her name in Japanese.
In Math we just finished a chapter on addition strategies. Don't forget our Mad Minutes Tests are every Friday. We all did great on our first test!
Our 5th grade technology buddies are working with us on our country research reports. We are researching Columbia, Venezuela, Honduras and Ecuador in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. If anyone has any pictures or music from any of these countries please send it in or email it to our teacher.
