Math -
Periods 1,7,8
We finally finished with Taas! Now we have moved into square roots and area.  We will take a test on this information on Thursday 4/19. The week of 4/ 24 - 4/28 we will be in the computer lab.  Here we will learn how to design, create, and label geometric figures.  We will continue in the lab on the next Mon. and Tues.  The kids will be graded on a final product from the lab. After the lab we will move back into percents and estimation.  This was a hard area for most kids.  We will be working in Chapter 11.Please remember that because of the computer lab, we will have only one major test grade on the progress reports that come out the week of May 1.  This may help or hurt your students grades.  There will be at least two other major grades before report cards come out!!!

Periods 4,6
Now that Taas is over we have been concentrating on fractions.  We are multiplying them and dividing them.  We will have a test on this information on Thursday 4/19.  The week of 4/24 - 4/28 we will be in the computer lab.  Here we will learn how to design, create, and label geometric figures.  We will continue in the lab on the next Mon. and Tues.  The kids will be graded on a final product from the lab.  After the lab we will move into integers and the coordinate system. We will be working in Chapter 11 but, we will also skip around some.  Please remember that because of the computer lab, we will have only one major test grade on the progress reports that come out the week of May 1. This may help or hurt your students grades.  There will be at least two other major grades before report cards come out!!!

English -
With the last few days upon us, students are working hard to understand the part of speech by diagramming them in sentences.  Students that will be taking Pre AP English or reading next year should have received a summer reading assignment from Ms. Simper or myself.  If they haven't, your child needs to contact one of us.  The reading assignment is on the book TRUE CONFESSIONS OF CHARLOTTE DOYLE.  The students will need to purchase this book and read it over the summer.  There is an excellent web site created by one of our seventh grade teachers that may help them.  I have included the web site address on the hot links section of our team web page.  Make sure you get it quickly because I don't know how long they will leave our team web page up.  Have a wonderful summer, and I'll look forward to seeing everyone next year.

Science
The Team H students are now exploring our solar system. The students will be designed a spacecraft which would be capable of travel in our solar system. The students will also create a timeleine which illustrates major events in space exploration history. The students will work in groups during the last week of school to visually represent (in 3-D) the information they gathered about space exploration.

Social Studies-

Team H students are traveling through Australia. We are learning about the physical, economic, and cultural features of Australia. This will help us to have an overview of this continent. The last major test on Australia will be on Friday, May 19.

This is a great time to be listening for current news about Australia. Bonus dots will be given to those students who bring in news articles!

Please check out our new websites listed at the end of this page.  If you go to our World Hunger site and click on the donate food button once a day(that's all you are allowed), 1/4 of a cup of food will be purchased by each sponser and distributed through the United Nations World Food Program!
Only one click a day will provide food to starving people!(You do not have to register or buy anything to use this site.)

Parents, remember to check your child's time tracker daily for updates! Please encourage your child to continue to study this last six weeks!  Have a great week!
