This week we will begin studying simple machines. As an introduction, we will be focusing on Leonardo Da Vinci and his contributions to machines. Click on the "Explore Leonardo Da Vinci" below to learn more about this amazing man.
Afterwards, click on the Rube Goldberg Site for information on this cartoonist, scupltor, and inventor. This site is great! Very interesting and inspiring information for the inventor in all of us.
At the end of the 3 weeks, students will be required to design and construct a compound machine (2 or more simple machines together) that allows them to eat spaghetti - Yes!, spaghetti. Students are encouraged to use household trash items (ice cream sticks, rubber bands, broken toys, etc...) to construct this invention. Parental help is encouraged!
