webevaluation Mr. DeAngelo
Holliston High School Grade 8 English Language Arts
The internet is a research tool that is fast and easy to use.  In conducting your research, however, you want to make sure that your sources are reliable; this can be particularly difficult when you don't know who is responsible for creating the source material.  In evaluating the reliablity of your source, ask yourself the following questions:
Who or what is the source of the information?
Does the information appear to be valid and reliable?

In addition to being reliable, information must also be relevant to your topic and your purpose.  You may find information that is completely valid and accurate but has nothing to do with your topic.  To determine if a site is useful for your purposes, ask yourself:
How does this site support my position?
