A. Today we are finishing the covering of our Writer's Notebook.

III. Grammar Workshop - Noun & Verb REVIEW with intro to Adjectives
A. Today we created a MAD LIBS activity with Adjectives
Mad Libs for Adjectives
Taboo Game for Adjectives
B. Additional Note on Grammar ONLY - You may DROP your LOWEST grade on your grammar quizzes for MP1! Keep up the studying because everything is cumulative!
There will be a CUMULATIVE TEST around our 6-week point.
I will keep updating the information on this.
Tentative Dates: 10/18 & 10/19 or 10/24 & 10/25
First Grammar Test: Verbs, Subjects, and Adjectives. Date TBA (Early - Mid-October)***

IV. Reading Workshop

You received a long list of possible ways to share your book with the class
When you share, you earn bonus points! Start creating products from the list I gave you today :)


V. Additional Notes:
A. All Blocks: We are putting our nouns and verbs together to begin our sentence diagramming study.
Remember: A sentence needs both a SUBJECT and a VERB!

Who has shared so far?
Devaughn, Taylor, Kristine, Madison B., and I'll keep adding to the list. I would also like to keep a blog of these shared experiences. Any volunteers?

B. "Reflections" Rough Drafts are due 10/18 & 10/19 at the latest!

C. Your "Where I'm From" poem can serve as your entry. The more adventurous may enter the contest with one of the following mediums:
*Dance Choreography
*Photography
*Artwork
*Musical Composition

Remember: The MORE ORIGINAL your entry is, the BETTER YOUR CHANCES FOR WINNING!
PRIZES: Last year students won gift certificates and everyone who enters gets ice cream. Also, winners that go onto regional competitions get CASH prizes and trips depending on how far they go!!!
D. Get ready for your 2nd Notebook Check!!! - Day ONE: 10/16 - Day TWO: 10/17

VI. Writing Workshop ~ "Where I'm From" Poems
Today we will be making "Where We're From" Group Poems
We took all of our information, chose the best parts, and shared them with our groups to make A GREAT GROUP POEM!!!

Here's what we have done so far on our own:
*Save a Word document as "Your Last Name First Draft"
*Title the work as "Where I'm From" by ___________________ and center it.
*Choose any font and any size you like and type the following categories: My Background (siblings, where you have lived, what your home is like), My Ancestry (Family tree), My Interests (hobbies, after-school activities, mall, video games, movies, etc.), My Memories (good and/or bad...happy and/or sad), and My Preferences (foods, color, vacation spots, favorite subject, all your favorites).
*Type all the ideas you can think of under each of these categories.

A. Today we introduced our class version of the boardgame called TABOO.
