Bonjour! I prefer teaching French through a progressive immersion style with the help of computers. Students require an environment that opens up a language in all its aspects, not only through a textbook, but with visual and audio aids. All languages change with time, the historical, philosophical, cultural and social interactional elements are what enhance and make a language evolve to what it is today.
Students are exposed to all these elements in my classroom. They learn that a foreign culture is not all that much different from their own, but at the same time, they realize that you cannot always translate word for word either because various economical, environmental and social interests have a hand in creating diversity as to how cultures view the world around them. How we learn and perceive language will reveal innermost secrets of who we are, as well as, learning in of itself. Amusez-vous bien!
