The self-discharge rate of lithium-ion batteries peaks at about 5 percent over the first 24 hours after charging the battery, then tapers off to 1-2% per month. In comparison, nickel-based rechargeable batteries lose about 10-15% of the capacity after cost and another 10-15percent per month.
