Plants and Their Food

All plants make their own food. A plant takes in air and water. The plant's green leaves collect energy from the sun. The plant uses this energy to change the water and part of the air into a kind of sugar. The suger is food for the plant.

Some plants get food from other places too. People might give plant food to the plants in their garden. Some plants catch and eat small bugs. But all plants can make their own food. That's what makes a plant a plant.
