Maki Visits the Empire State Building

Maki Visits the Empire State Building

Maki was so excited! She and her grandfather were on their way up one of the tallest buildings in the world! It was the Empire State Building.
After a long ride, the elevator stopped at the 86th floor. Maki and her grandfather stepped out of the elevator. They were on the viewing deck, where people can look out at the city below.
Maki looked around at New York City. Grandpa showed her lots of interesting buildings. He pointed to the Chrysler Building, which was very shiny. Then he pointed to Madison Square Garden, where his favorite basketball team plays. He also told her the names of the two rivers she could see. They were the East River and the Hudson River.
Maki found a telescope on the viewing deck. She looked through the telescope. She could see the Statue of Liberty far away.
The wind whipped Maki’s hair all around. She walked around the viewing deck. She looked at the tall buildings and the ocean. She knew that there was another viewing deck on the 102nd floor, the top floor of the building. She wondered how everything would look from there.
