You are expected to complete the test within 90 minutes (you probably only need 60minutes). Do not leave in the middle of the test.
There are essay questions in this test. You are expected to type in Chinese characters. Check your computer to make sure a Chinese input method (IME) is installed or activated before taking the test (most computers have an IME built into the operating system). If you do not know how to type Chinese, you may send in a scanned PDF copy of your hand-written essay within 24 hours (mwei@gwu.edu).
If you suspect that your test submission is not successful due to a web error (which is rare) , you might need to start over. To avoid any web problems, we recommend that you do not leave the test to answer phone calls or do something else during the test.
After Submission: Please send an email to to let us know you have completed the test, so that we can review your test in a timely manner. You will be notified of the test results and our recommendations.
Note: All placement results/recommendations are tentative. You may be required to take a test again in person on Friday Aug. 24 (10:00-11:30 am in 470 Rome) if your proficiency level cannot be determined through this online test.
