UNIT 11

Everyone has seen movies and read stories about the
West of long ago. When people traveled in those days
they usually walked, rode horses, or rode in wagons
pulled by animals. But there was another way that some
people traveled that was very unusual. They rode in a
windwagon!
A windwagon was a regular wagon with a giant sail on
top. No animals were needed to pull the wagon. When-
ever the wind blew, it would catch the sail and send the
windwagon skimming over the plains. Some wagons
went nearly fifty miles an hour.
There was only one thing wrong with the windwagon
-when there was no wind, it didn't move.
