UNIT 22

How would you like to become a queen at sixteen
years of age? That is what happened to Mona Todman
of the Virgin Islands. The Governor of the Virgin
Islands crowned her "Queen of the Islands." Of course,
she didn't become a real queen. Her duties were to show
visitors the shops, churches, and other interesting
sights.

Mona is a native of the islands. She enjoys baseball,
swimming, and bicycling. She also likes to cook for her
family-all ten of them.

Mona may not be a real queen, but she says she is as
happy as a queen could be!
