The Forgotten Anti-Segregation Court Cases

As we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Brown v. Board, we should remember that four other court cases were tried at roughly the same time, including one right here in DC. Yes, it's easier to just have to sympathize with the young Linda Brown, but there were dozens of other courageous people involved in Brown and the other cases...and let's not forget the beneficiaries of the decision--the 16 million blacks living in America in 1954.

Today's exercise will help you begin a project in which you dig deeper into one of the cases.
You are going to investigate one of the four cases and produce a graphic example of your findings (a fancy way of saying a cool poster.)

Click through the links below and decide on a case which you would like to explore further. Then answer the questions for that case in the blanks provided. Your answers will become part of your project.

We will discuss the project in more detail tomorrow.
