English Department Teams

As we go into scheduling and staffing for 2007-2008, I'd like to have a sense of how well the English Department is doing with developing teams that are professional learning communities.

In Results Now by Mike Schmoker, a professional learning or collaborative community is defined as (1) teachers who "establish a common, concise set of curricular standards and teach to them roughly on a common schedule"; (2) meet regularly (at least twice a month) for 30-45 minutes to focus instruction on specific skills and share results; (3) analyze their results for ways to improve instruction; and (4) create and use common assessments regularly.

How are we doing?
