Stages of Concern Questionnaire (MUES)

The Stages of Concern Questionnaire is a research-based tool that was developed from typical responses of educators who ranged from no knowledge at all about an innovation or new program to many years’ experience using it. In employing this research tool across the district, we must leave the questions exactly as they are written. Therefore, some of the items on this questionnaire could appear to have little or no relevance to your knowledge or situation at this time, but they might fit the knowledge or situation of a colleague in another building. For items that seem completely irrelevant to you, please mark “1” on the scale. For those other items that better represent those concerns you do have, you may mark “2” through “8,” with “8” representing the highest level.

For example:

This statement is very true of me at this time. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

This statement is somewhat true of me at this time. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

This statement is not at all true of me at this time.  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

This statement seems irrelevant to me. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
