Dear 5th Graders and Parents:

Welcome to the 5th Grade!  This page is intended to update you on weekly assignments and general information.  We are currently enjoying time away from school.  I hope yours is relaxing and renewing.

Parents, children need their time away from school to play, go to vacations and camp, and to just be silly!  I hope that you will continue to nurture their love of our Lord and Savior through continuing to seek out mass wherever you and your family find yourselves.  This is truly the summit of all we do here.

In terms of mind-sharpening activities for your incoming 5th grader, I suggest REGULAR reading.  All students can benefit from frequent trips to the public library.  Many are mature in their outlooks and enjoy the challenges of a good novel.  Additionally, they can seek out a Science magazine, Ranger Rick, for keeping tabs on Earth and its creatures, as well as a consumer mag, Zillions, which is a kids' version of Consumer Reports.  It caters to products that they might consider spending their money on, and advises them which products test best.  Next, they would benefit from story-writing to stimulate imagination and improve dexterity with cursive handwriting.  Finally, (heavy emphasis here) weekly practice with Math-fact flash cards will keep their response-time short, their accuracy sound, and accelerate their progress in 5th grade math.

I look forward to getting to know your child. Have a peace-filled summer.

"Think of what is above, not of what is on earth." (Colossians 3:2)

Blessings!

Yours in Christ,
Mrs. Saller
