Unit 3.0 covers the purpose, components and uses of speech recognition. It also covers how to use speech recognition and the actual training and use of the software.

Unit 3.01 Purpose, components, and uses of Speech Recognition.

1. Review PowerPoint slide show 3.01 with Mrs. Ray

2. Review terms on pages A3-6 and 7 in your binder.

3. Complete quiz 3.0 First Half.

Unit 3.02 Training of Speech Recognition. We use Dragon Naturally Speaking Version 9.0 This should be installed on your computer. You will go through the actual setup and use of this program. Review PowerPoint slides 3.02 with Mrs. Ray.

1. Using "The Nifty 59 for Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9" spiral-bound book, start on page 6 and complete Exercise 1. Save your profile to the F drive in step 3. This will allow you to use it on any computer with Dragon installed.

2. You are to complete Exercises 2 through 33 on pages 8 - 43. This should take about 3 clock hours to complete.

3. Complete quiz 3.0 Second Half.

Unit 3.03 Edit and Format Documents.

1. Complete "Nifty 59" Exercises 34 - 68 on pages 44 to 88. This should take about 5 clock hours to complete.

Unit Exam 3.0 1. Take exam 3.0. If you earned an 85% or higher, continue to unit 4. If you do not obtain an 85% on the exam then complete the following lessons:

2. Review the PowerPoint slides in your binder for Unit 3.

3. Redo 3.01 First and Second Half.

4. Complete the "Rags to Riches" game below.

5. Retake Exam 3.0. If you earn an 85 or higher then continue to unit 4. If not then see Mrs. Ray for additional coursework prior to retesting.
