1. DISCUSSED the "other" children of Gaea & Uranus: Hecatonchires, Cyclopes, the Meliae (nymphs), the Furies, and the birth of Aphrodite. We also discussed the overthrow of Cronus by Zeus.
2. REVIEWED the noun endings of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd declensions for all the cases including the Genitive (possession). See page 97 of text.
3. PRACTICED identifying neuter nouns in the sentences of Exercise D of page 118 in "About the Language I: Neuter Nouns" of text.
4. LEARNED the value of studying the vocabulary for the nominative and genitive singular forms. It is the genitive form that identifies the declension and the stem of the noun when the genitive ending is removed.

1. DISCUSSED related Latin words and English derivatives for the seasons of the year (tempora anni): aestas, autumnus, hiems, ver.
2. REVIEWED genders of nouns, how to find the base of a noun or adjective by removal of the genitive singular ending, and the "neuter rule" (the nominative & accusative neuter singulars are the same and the nominative & accusative neuter plurals always end in -a.
3. PRACTICED looking up unknown word forms in the dictionary located in the back of the text.
4. CELEBRATED Augustus' birthday (either today or tomorrow, depending on the source) by examining his adoptive name of Gaius Iulius Caesar Octavianus Augustus.
5. STUDIED Roman/Greek mythology of the "creation" of the world starting with Chaos through to the birth of the Titans. Major players were Gaea, Tartarus, Eros, Erebus, Nyx, Aether, Hemera, Moirae (the Fates = Clotho, Lachesis, & Atropos), Uranus, Montes, & Pontus. Each week we will look at a different mythological story.
6. REVIEWED the stories to date of Quintus and Clemens in Alexandria, Egypt. What role did Barbillus, the boy slave, Diogenes, Plancus, & the temple of Serapis play in those stories?

Both these exercises included sentences introducing the use of the dative case after an adjective (i.e., facile, difficile, necesse, decorum). Exercise C also was corrected.
3. EXAMINED the presence of "gender" with Latin nouns while determining which relative pronoun form to use in the relative clauses of Exercise C on page 63 of text. PREVIEWED a "neuter" gender noun form.
4. DISCOVERED that it may be necessary to LEARN the gender of nouns. Starting with the Stage 15 Vocabulary Checklist found on page 70 of text, the gender of nouns will be indicated. NOTICE the number of neuter nouns included.
