Fourth Grade Subjects
Reading: We will be studying various novels this year, while we teach basic reading and English skills. These should be a new, fun way to practice and develop our reading skills. Each child will have a paperback book checked out to him or her for which they are responsible. There will be vocabulary words, quizzes and other projects that will be graded. We will be taking a Reading SOL test in the spring of 2015.
English: We are putting a lot of emphasis on English and writing skills this year in the fourth grade. We are hoping that our students will learn to see how fun, important, and essential good writing skills are. We will grade writing with rubrics that contain all the main components of writing that students are expected to master.
