BISHOP MAGINN HIGH SCHOOL SPANISH 3 Mrs. Grasso, sragrasso@yahoo.com BMHS Spanish 3 shares the same objectives as set forth by the NYS Regents Action Plan for Modern Languages. In Spanish 3, students will: 1. be able to speak, write, read, listen and comprehend presentations in language other than English. 2. develop an appreciation and understanding of the diversity of cultural heritages. 3. think logically and apply reasoning skills to issues and problems. Supplies: 3-ring binder, looseleaf paper, and pen/pencil Grading: TESTS (40%): We will cover approximately 2 units per quarter. An announced test will cover each unit, including the grammar and vocabulary and either reading or listening comprehension. QUIZZES (30%): Every Monday students will receive a vocabulary list. This will serve as the basis for Friday’s quiz. There will also be announced grammar quizzes every 2 weeks. HOMEWORK (20%): Students will be assigned homework Monday-Thursday. Every Wednesday sentences will be due based on the week’s vocabulary list. Students will not receive credit for sentences completed with the assistance of computer resources. Students have enough knowledge from Spanish 1 and 2 to complete simple present tense sentences. Completed homework is graded as a 100%. Late homework assignments are NOT accepted. Students are NOT allowed to get work from their lockers after the class bell has rung. Preparedness and organization is rewarded! PARTICIPATION/EFFORT (10%): Students must be on time, prepared, attentive to the lesson, actively taking notes and volunteering responses and, above all, courteous and respectful of others. Website: All assignments, vocabulary lists, and announcements can be found by students and parents at the following website: www.quia.com/pages/bishopmaginn.html I encourage students to use this website for practice activities and extra credit opportunities. Examinations: All students will take a mid-term examination and a final. The NYS Regents exam serves as the final exam for the course. Historically, our students perform above average on the Spanish Regents Exam and I look forward to another successful year.
