~ KINDERGARTEN ~
In Art Class, Kindergartners create an Art Book to introduce them to the basic Elements of Art, which fulfills Diocesan Standard Strand 1: Create in Visual Arts. Performance Objective (PO) a: line, PO-b: color, PO-c: shape, and PO-g: texture in art.
They experiment with different materials--C-2: Utilize media and methods for 2-D Art: PO-a: drawing, PO-b: painting, PO-c, printmaking.
They fulfill Standard C-4, Utilize media and methods for 3-D art, by creating a line sculpture with paper and a pinch pot animal with clay. Standard C-5, safety and awareness and care for art materials is also emphasized.
Strand 2: Relate art to Catholic beliefs--Kindergartners learn about and create a Christian fish symbol.
