Look what we are doing in Kindergarten, Some things may change so it is always best to check with Ms. Brodar if you have any questions or concerns. There is also a file at the end that discusses the overall curriculum for the year. We are busy in KA!
Thank you for the fabulous "Thankful Turkey". I hope everyone had a chance to see it. The feathers were a true reflection of how wonderful your children are. Also, please join the school on December 18th for the All School Mass at 10am. The Kindergartners will be singing a special song at the end of the Mass!

Religion
*Explore and celebrate the season of Advent.
*Learn about the Jesse Tree and hear more wonderful bible stories.
*Learn about St. Nicholas, St. Juan Diego, St. Lucy, St. Stephen and the special feast days of the Immaculate Conception, Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Holy Family.
*Practicing our song for Mass
Language Arts
*Continue to work on word families -an, -at, -ap, -it, -ig.
*Continue to introduce additional Letter People and practice our phonics with the beginning sounds of Vv, Qq, Jj, Xx.
*Add the words up, a, to our high frequency words; it, have, do, not, in, big, I, the, go, but, like, is, can, am, red, and blue.
*Identify the word families -en, -et.
*Introduce the comprehension skills of Compare and Contrast in our stories.
*Practice the correct formation of letters introduced.
*Continue to recognize rhyming words.
Math
*Continue Geometry unit.
*Identify, describe and compare the 3-dimensional shapes: cone, cube, cylinder, sphere, pyramid and rectangular prism.
*Continue working on ordinal numbers 0-10.
*Continue graphing.
Social Studies
*Learn about the holiday of Christmas
*Continue practicing our classroom/school rules and discussing the Student Learning Expectations. (SLEs)
*Continue to build upon what we are learning through the OLPH Anti-Bullying Program. In Room K-A we are respectful and work hard to always build up, not tear down, each other's dignity.
Writing
*Practice the correct letter formation of letters introduced.
*Write in our Writing Workshop journals.
*Practice beginning our sentences with a capital letter and putting spaces between our words.

*Continue our very prayerful time in Atrium with Ms. Shari and using our critical thinking skills in computer class
