A Reading Study Team, representing staff members from Lincoln Public Schools, has selected the McGraw-Hill Wonders Reading Series for the new K-6 Language Arts Program.
Some different things that you may notice in these materials include the following:
• More technology will be used in instruction with online workspace for both teachers and students.
• You will see higher text complexity; at least half of all text is informational.
• Students will get support for more difficult text by beginning with shorter selections, reading parts multiple times, and hearing text read aloud.
• Students will be asked to have conversations about their reading.
• Student will be asked to write about their reading.
• When answering questions about reading, students will asked to support their answers with evidence from the text.
• There will be increased emphasis on vocabulary and grammar.
